Alice Dote, primeira publicação dedicada à produção da artista, configura-se como um marco importante em sua carreira, com foco em sua produção recente, englobando desenhos e gravuras e, principalmente, pinturas realizadas entre 2022 e 2025, com exceção de uma, realizada em 2020. Olhares de si e do outro, paisagens cotidianas e a experiência do desejo vivenciada pelos corpos são algumas das temáticas que Alice Dote aborda através das lentes da intimidade, algo que, segundo a artista, permeia todos os trabalhos, das naturezas mortas aos retratos e autorretratos.
A intimidade e a proximidade de que fala Alice não são apenas evocadas pelo que é representado em suas pinturas e desenhos, mas também pelo “diálogo-convite” quea artista nos oferece por meio dos títulos dos trabalhos. Alice Dote, the first publication dedicated to the artist’s work, marks an important milestone in her career. Focusing on her recent practice, the book brings together drawings and prints and, above all, paintings produced between 2022 and 2025, with the exception of one work from 2020. Views of the self and the other, everyday landscapes, and the experience of desire as lived through the body are among the themes Alice Dote approaches through the lens of intimacy—something that, according to the artist, permeates all of her work, from still lifes to portraits and self-portraits.
The intimacy and proximity Alice speaks of are evoked not only by what is represented in her paintings and drawings, but also by the “dialogue-invitation” the artist extends to us through the titles of her works. Through language, articulated with representation, the artist invites us into her world, sharing sensations and thoughts not only about what is being depicted, but also about her artistic practice and what drives her to keep herself alive through it.
